Ontario Parents for Academic Achievement (OPAA) is an organization formed by parents and administrators with the primary goal of furthering the academic excellence of our schools. The programs and activities we sponsor are intended to encourage our students and to reward them for their academic achievements. This past year we financially supported numerous programs that recognize our students in g
rades 3 through 12. At Stingel, students were awarded Dog Tags for achieving all Aβs and Bβs during the entire previous school year and passing their OAA exams. Treats at lunch were also given at the end of each nine week period to students earning all Aβs for grades 3, 4, and 5. In January, we also helped launch the inaugural Stingel Lego Club to encourage vision and creativity. At the Middle School, we held drawings at the end of the first three nine week periods for movie tickets and held a spring breakfast for the all A students in grades 6 through 8. Honor Roll students received decals and sports passes as a reward. We also helped set up a new OMS Robotics Club to give students a fun and practical outlet for their STEM studies. At the High School, we held raffles, hosted breakfasts, purchased treats and provided sports passes for our deserving students. The highlight of our year was the Spring Academic Honors Reception for our high school students who maintain 3.67 GPAs throughout the year(s). In addition to the 160 awards we handed out, we also were able to give 4 $500 scholarships to graduating seniors.
