Here’s my simple hack that can make a big difference for your cucumber plants 🥒

Getting cucumber vines up off the ground helps with airflow to manage moisture, gives the plant more room to grow and makes harvesting easier.

A garden {just like a community} isn't made up of individual plants. It's made up of the relationships within it. 💛

By using understory companion planting like this, larger crops can support lower-growing plants that help retain, protect, and attract a healthy ecosystem.

One of the biggest mistakes I see in edible gardens? Not planting enough and planting everything in straight rows 🙅‍♀️

Head into your local mountains or open spaces and see how nature does it! Nature knows what’s up!

By layering planting and using sequential planting, you can maximize your harvests throughout the season and grow the health of your whole ecosystem.

As one crop finishes, another is ready to take its place. The shade from the taller plant protects the understory plants. The vining plants can climb the taller plants. The result is a garden that stays full and abundant for much longer.

Peep the solo jalapeño at the end 🥹🌶️

There’s something special about that feeling of stepping outside and realizing lunch is waiting for you!

Grocery shopping starts looking a little different when your backyard becomes part of the equation 😍

Not in a perfect, all-or-nothing way.
But in small, meaningful moments of abundance that build over time.

Do you know the difference between gooseberries and ground cherries? 🌿

Because apparently…I didn’t for a very long time 😅

Today, I’m potting up these ground cherries to give them a little more room and more nutrition. Once seedlings start stalling out, it’s usually a sign they need something more, like space or nutrients, to keep growing.

If you’re an aspiring gardener- know you’ll never stop learning. Learning through research, comparing notes with other gardeners, sometimes through trial and error, and sometimes through accidentally calling a plant the wrong thing!

It’s all part of the beauty of it.

One of my favorite things about gardening is how it brings people together.

I recently helped a neighbor get raised beds set up for a space that will soon be bursting with fresh herbs, vegetables, and all the small rhythms that come with growing your own food.

Sometimes it starts with sharing knowledge.
Sometimes it’s lending a hand.
Sometimes it’s getting the giant pile of soil delivered 💁🏻‍♀️

That’s the beauty of community gardening and that is what Salt + Sage Gardens is all about.

This week she is babysitting my seedlings because I got too busy to keep them alive. I brought her some fertilizer to help with some yellowing leaves 🫶

Thriving gardens don’t happen by accident.

They need observation, fine tuning and support along the way.

That’s where my work at Salt + Sage Gardens comes in.

Whether you’re starting with a few raised beds or building a food forest, I help gardens of all sizes become productive, beautiful spaces that feed both people and the community.

It’s rarely perfect or linear… but that’s where the fun and growth lives- for me and the gardens I take care of!

One of the easiest ways to add whimsy to your garden? Grow flowers you can keep growing again and again 🌸

Zinnias are one of my favorite flowers for home gardens because they’re colorful, resilient, and pollinator-friendly.

Little practices like this are what can make gardening feel more connected over time. You plant, you save, you grow again. A beautiful reminder that a garden doesn’t have to be complicated to feel abundant.

Have you tried saving seeds before?

One of my favorite things about being a small business owner is meeting other women building businesses of their own 🌿

During a recent event, I had the pleasure of connecting with Nicolette of . What started as a conversation turned into an invitation to do a Salt + Sage Gardens pop-up at Birdbath’s new San Clemente grand opening this weekend, and it was a wonderful a reminder of how powerful community can be.

There’s something really special about women supporting one another. Especially in businesses that complement each other in meaningful ways.

More collaboration. More connection. More ways to bring people together. 🌱
