A lot of folks in Northeast Florida think only rural homes use water wells… but even city water comes from a well!

Whether you're on a private well or hooked up to municipal "city" water, it all starts the same way: pulled straight from the Floridan Aquifer by a water well.

The main difference? With city water, it goes through miles of pipes, treatment plants before it gets to your tap.

As a licensed water well contractor, Partridge Well Drilling Co, Inc. has been working with our communities groundwater for 133 years. Drilling wells for residential and municipal/city water.

Déjà vu in Downtown Jacksonville! Partridge Well is back at the former Jacksonville Landing site--now the future Riverfront Plaza--drilling just like we did over 65 years ago.

We're proud to be part of this exciting new chapter for the city, installing two geothermal wells that will reach over 600 feet deep.

It's going to be cold here in NE Florida. Pipes and pumps can be damaged and/or inoperable when they are frozen. Here are some tips to help keep water pumps and pipes from freezing:
1) Keep water moving. Let water trickle at outside hose bibs. Try to use outside bibs as this water does not run in the septic system. This will help by bringing warm water from the well through the system.
2) If you happen to be awake during the night or early morning, run enough water inside to cause the pump to come on which will bring warm water from the well through the system.
3) Cover pumps and exposed pipes. Try to drape something over equipment. Pump motor must have air flow. Do not wrap anything tightly around pump motor.
4) Add heat source. The first thing that normally freezes is the pressure switch and pressure switch tubing. You MUST be very careful to not let a heat source contact anything that could catch on fire or melt.
5)Turn on pool equipment so it will run until temperature rises above freezing.
It can be challenging to keep pumps and pipes from freezing. It may take a combination of things to protect the equipment.
