Broken cables on garage doors do happen. This one was preventable though. The cable rusted where it connects to the door on the bottom section. Why did rust? Weather was getting between the door jamb and the garage door due to missing weather trim on the side of the door. This caused the rust and eventually caused the cable to break thus trapping both of the customer's cars. We replaced the cable for the customer a 9pm on a Saturday so they were able to be at church the next morning!

You have to know what to look for when it comes to garage door damage. This customer had hit his garage door with his car and called us to replace the damaged sections. At first glance, you could see the damage done by the impact which only affected the bottom 2 sections. However, on closer inspection there were cracks in the top 2 sections, possibly caused by some previous impact or just wear over the years. Cracks like these in steel doors will grow as the door flexes during use over time... until it eventually breaks. We replaced all 4 sections per the customer's request.
