Back in the classroom today!

Spent the day learning about lime mortar repointing and historic masonry repair. It's always interesting to see how these traditional materials were designed to work and why they are still used on many older homes and chimneys today.

You never stop learning in this trade.

Summer is one of the best times to have your chimney inspected. There's no waiting for the fall rush, and if repairs are needed, there's plenty of time to get them completed before burning season. Our team uses floor protection and HEPA filtration to help keep homes clean throughout the process.

This chimney had reached the point where repairs just weren't going to cut it anymore. The brickwork above the roofline was deteriorating badly, so we rebuilt it from the roof up.
Really happy with how this one turned out. The new masonry matches the home well, the flashing is clean, and the homeowner won't have to worry about loose bricks or ongoing deterioration for a long time.
Sometimes a rebuild is the better investment than repeatedly patching failing masonry.

This chimney had a severely deteriorated liner that had become blocked, trapping moisture inside the system over time. The excess moisture caused deterioration around the fireplace and venting area, creating an unsafe condition.

We removed the failing liner and installed a new stainless steel liner system to safely vent the appliance and protect the chimney moving forward.

A damaged or blocked liner is something many homeowners never see until major deterioration starts showing up. Regular inspections can catch these problems before they become much more expensive repairs.

Taking this chimney down, you can clearly see where flue gases escaped through the original clay liner system.

Over time, creosote — a flammable byproduct of wood burning — can seep behind damaged liner sections and into hidden areas of the chimney structure. Problems like this often aren’t visible during normal fireplace use, which is why regular inspections are so important.

This chimney has multiple issues going on at once — deteriorated flue walls, failing crown/parging at the top, and outdated venting that needed to be addressed properly. We’re installing new liners, rebuilding damaged sections of the chimney, and bringing the venting system back to a safer, more reliable setup.

A lot of chimney problems aren’t obvious from the ground. Water intrusion, damaged flue tiles, and aging vent systems can continue getting worse year after year if left alone.

This is why thorough inspections matter 👀

Proud of the crew on this one. Big project with a lot of moving parts.

That black flaky buildup inside the flue is creosote — and it’s one of the leading causes of chimney fires. 🔥

Even if your fireplace or stove seems to be working fine, creosote can build up faster than many homeowners realize.

Annual chimney sweeping helps: • Remove dangerous creosote buildup
• Improve draft and performance
• Reduce smoke and odor issues
• Catch problems before they become expensive repairs

If you burn wood, regular maintenance isn’t just about cleanliness — it’s about safety.

Schedule your annual chimney inspection and sweeping before the busy season hits. 🧹

Friday afternoon heater liner install wrapped up in some tight quarters today. Had just enough room to make it work and barely got the required 1/4" rise on the stack — but we got it done the right way.

Sometimes these installs aren’t about speed… they’re about patience, planning, and making everything fit safely and correctly.

Another system ready to vent properly and safely going into the weekend. 💪🔥

Brought this chimney back to life 🔧
What started as a cracked, failing exterior turned into a full rebuild where it mattered most. We opened it up, addressed the structural issues, rebuilt the upper section, and finished it clean with a new crown and cap.
This isn’t just about looks — when chimneys start cracking like this, water gets in, freeze/thaw takes over, and things go downhill fast. Fixing it now prevents much bigger problems later.
Now it’s solid, sealed, and ready for years of use 👍

This one had some history behind it.
The original flue was in rough shape—cracked clay, gaps, and years of wear that you don’t always see until you open things up. Once we got access, it was clear the system wasn’t safe to keep running as-is.
We installed a new stainless steel liner to properly vent the appliance and sealed everything back up the right way.
Now it’s drafting correctly, sealed, and safe to use again 👍
These are the kind of issues that don’t show up from the outside—but make a big difference in how your system performs (and how safe it is).
