Here are 5 things to consider when thinking of installing a heat pump in your home. But what is a heat pump?

A heat pump is a system that moves heat from one place to another instead of creating heat directly.
In the winter, it pulls heat from outside air (even when it’s cold) and brings it into your home to warm it. In the summer, it reverses and removes heat from inside your home, pushing it outside—so it works like an air conditioner.
Because it’s just transferring heat rather than generating it (like a furnace), it’s usually much more energy-efficient.

What to consider

1. Safety

When installing a heat pump, it is critical to shut off power, use the proper tools, and absolutely have appropriate protection.

2. Local Permits and Code Requirements

Most areas require permits for heat pump installation and some allow home owner individual permits, while others require hvac licensure. Knowing what your local requirements are creates safety and reduces complications.

3. Specialty Tools and Skills

Ensuring proper sizing, the right tools, and the necessary skills is essential for a successful installation. As a homeowner, understanding the correct installation process can make a big difference in the final result. When in doubt, local experts are available to help.

4. High Risk Steps

Incorrectly instillation can cause many issues down the line if not taken care of correctly including many additional costs to your home. It is recommended to consider all resources before instillation, and your local team of experts is always here to help!

5. Consider the Costs

The price of a heat pump depends on many factors such as home size, type of heat pump and duct work. Up front, a heat pump can seem more expensive, but the long term benefits include higher efficiency for your home and less monthly expenses.

Call Authority Heating for more info or check out all the details on this website including a step by step instillation process.

60–80% of residential AC systems are likely dirty or suboptimally maintained at any given time. The majority of residents within America rarely change their air filters, let alone clean their AC unit. The craziest part about it is that up to 60% of HVAC breakdowns are preventable with maintenance…

Q: How frequently should I change the air filter in my HVAC system?
A: To maintain good air quality and prevent damage to your system, air filters should be changed every 1-3 months. We recommend using a 4" filter and we'd be happy to quote a filter system upgrade. For 1" filters, change them out between 1-3 months and for 4" filters, change them out every 3-6 months. Keep in mind that animals, candles, and nearby construction could all impact how often you need to change your filters.
