There are several reasons that your woodburning system may be making excessive amounts of creosote.
Some are system problems.
Connector pipe too long
Flue size too big or small
Chimney too short or not drafting properly.
Older inefficient non-EPA rated woodstoves.
But the most common issues are user related.
Burning improperly seasoned wood
Not operating the stove hot enough
Failing to properly clean and maintain the system.
