Have you ever tried to grow an avocado from a seed??
🥑I’ve tried SO MANY times….stick toothpicks in it and suspend in water
…don’t puncture with tooth kicks!
…put in a damp paper towel and most
…. Put in a damp paper towel and put it in a sealed baggie/container
… so many methods….so many fail gross moldy shriveled up avocado seeds 😂
But today I found this and realized the way to growing avocado seeds….it to toss them into your isopod enclosures!! 😱🤯
Isopods are part of the “biodegrading” process”. They eat the stuff and p**p it out into the soil which adds nutrients to the soil so that the soil can grow new healthy things
We know that plants in our reptile enclosures do the best when isopods and springtails are also in the enclosure.
But we didn’t think too much about the avocado seeds we toss into our isopod enclosures. 🤷♀️
We feed our isopods our homemade isochow, but we also give them kitchen scraps…the ends and skins of fruits and veggies that you don’t eat, or that have gone bad.
When we started tossing the avocado seeds in, we thought for a second, maybe it will grow. But figured not to be too concerned about it because we’ve tried to many other methods.
This seed was in one of our iso enclosures for so long we don’t remember when it was dropped in 😂
But when I was checking in colonies and feeding everyone some browsing salad, I noticed a little something growing ….I pulled it up and it was this beautiful avocado sprouting !!
We’re going to continue testing to see if iso enclosures is the best way to kick start your avocado seeds and we’ll keep you updated !! 🥑😍🌱
