🚰✨ Keeping Your Garbage Disposal Happy and Healthy! ✨🗑️

Ever wondered how to ensure your sink garbage disposal stays in tip-top shape? 🤔

1. Use It Regularly -If you don't use it often, it can freeze up and stop working altogether.

2. Don't Abuse It - Steer clear of hard items like bones, fruit pits, and shells as they can dull the blades or jam your disposal. Cut large food scraps into smaller pieces before sending them down the disposal to prevent overloading. Remember, the disposal is for some things, not everything.

3. Fight Funky Smells. - Got a funky smell? Use lemon or lime juice to clear it up. Squeeze the juice into the drain or use juice from a bottle. Avoid putting whole pieces of lemon or lime in the disposal. For a deep clean, pour baking soda followed by vinegar down the disposal, let it fizz for a few minutes, then rinse with hot water.

If your disposal is humming or grinding but not working, there may be a clog. Here's a step-by-step guide to help you clear a clog:

1. Turn Off the Power: Find the switch or circuit breaker that controls the garbage disposal and turn it off. This ensures the disposal cannot accidentally start while you're working on it.

2. Use Tongs or Pliers: Reach into the disposal and remove any visible debris or objects causing the clog. Be cautious and gentle to avoid damaging the disposal or injuring yourself.

3. Reset Button: Many disposals have a reset button located on the bottom. If the disposal is clogged due to overheating, pressing this button may reset it and allow it to function properly again.

4. Allen Wrench: Underneath the disposal, locate a small hexagonal hole. Insert an Allen wrench into this hole and turn it back and forth. This can help manually rotate the disposal's blades and dislodge stuck objects. Remember to turn it clockwise to avoid damaging the disposal.

5. Professional Help: If the clog remains stubborn or the disposal still isn't working, it's best to call us for garbage disposal repair or replacement.

A recent project that was really fun to do! This kitchen was just not serving the homeowner well. We were able to open up the area, make space for a larger fridge, and replace the countertops and flooring. Now this kitchen is bright, open, updated and more functional.

Maintenance Monday!
Where we give you tips and tricks to make sure your stuff keeps working! This week we are tackling the bathroom exhaust fan!

Have you ever been over at someone's house and too embarrassed to turn on the bathroom fan because it was so loud and noisy? Did you know that a really simple way to extend the life and function of your exhaust fan is just to dust or vacuum it? This easy trick will make sure that dirt and dust doesn't build up around the motor of your fan. When moving parts get dusty, they stop moving! 🚫

Maintaining your bathroom exhaust fan is quick and easy. All you need to do is use a dry brush, rag or vacuum attachment to dust everything off of the grill plate. If you’re able to, you can even pry off or unscrew the grill plate while the fan is off and clean inside of the fan box!
This will keep your motor running smoothly and quietly! 😌
