Acerola aka Barbados cherry is certainly one of my favorite snacks from the garden. 😋

The cherries are juicy, tangy, & sweet all at the same time (plus they have soft seeds, so you can sink your teeth right into them worry free) 😎

Let us also take a moment to appreciate her long fruiting season. These plants fruit on & off from spring until fall 🥹

With extremely high vitamin C content & plenty of antioxidants, these cherries are great for your immune system along with SO many other aspects of body function. 🍒

Typically you won’t find these cherries in stores because they perish quickly after harvest… 🤷‍♀️ HOWEVER if you’re a local here in central Florida you can most certainly grow them in your back yard or in a pot.🪴

Barbados cherries are currently in stock at the Sherwood Gardens nursery. 🙆🏼‍♀️

Just a reminder that not all beautiful things last forever in the garden! 😢 This Gaillardia lived a wonderful biannual life after being planted last year. Should I have deadheaded the blooms more? Yes. Should I have kept up with watering? Yes. Was I out of town a lot? Yes. Could the mother plant have lasted longer? Absolutely yes! BUT I made so many beautiful memories traveling through other countries that I’m okay with being patient & waiting for the seeds that spread to arise from the soil. 🤷‍♀️ sometimes your garden can’t get the full attention & love it requires.. but if that means you do, then so be it 😎 there is always next year, there is always next season (especially in Florida). Enjoy it while you have it! Don’t stress the losses.. especially if you let the plant go to seed 😉 I cut this declining baby back to almost nothing. Let’s see if she comes back 🥰

Did you know Monstera deliciosa, a common house plant, & in the tropics, a landscape feature provides an edible fruit called fruit salad plant or mexican bread fruit!? swipe to peak it growing (just a few names of many) 🤯

The flavor is a combination of jackfruit, pineapple, coconut, & banana😋 it’s considered a delicacy in many countries in South America. 💌

The fruit is a great source of potassium & vitamin C.🌱

Wait until those green scales begin to lift & fall off so the fruit is fully ripe.

Patience is key, if you eat the fruit before its ripe, you’ll have to deal with some irritable sensations like a burning mouth or throat.. however, if you’re patient, it’s totally worth it! 🥰

Lil Scooby has entered his preppy era(swipe to see his new summer polo!!!) 🥰 If you've ever come by the garden, chances are.. you've been lucky enough to meet lil scooby! 🐶
He protects the garden like you wouldn't believe; literally chasing & fighting off armadillos, raccoons, & cats (he's caught many cat swipes to the face, but still hasn't caught a lizard!😂)
We rescued him. 💕 He was a feisty, wild pup living in a den he built in my neighbors hedge. Now, depending on the season, he won't leave the house without an outfit 😂 polos, Jean jackets (multiple options), 4 leg pajamas, Sombrero's, & even rain hats... he's got it all & more!

Grapes are beginning to ripen & I CANNOT wait to make my gramma's grape juice recipe🥰 However, I can confirm the flavor straight off the vine is SO tasty 😋 (swipe to the end to see how they looked when they first began to bloom a few months ago) ➡️

🍇 Year 3 harvesting from my Catawba grape vines, but this is the first year I actually pruned them & provided a proper sturdy trellis! (My garden gets tough love.. IYKYK🤣)

🍇 This year, I have MUCH more grape bundles coming in! I'm not sure if I should attribute it to the fact that I actually fertilized, pruned, or increased their watering schedule from nothing to something 😅
