For the first 5 years on the road, Billie did everything.

Towing days.
Beach days.
Grocery runs.
Exploring.
“Quick little drives” that somehow turned into full-day adventures.

And honestly, we just accepted the fuel bill because that’s what RV life felt like.

Then we added Moxie.

The weird part?

We explored MORE while spending way less moving around.

One year in the truck alone cost us over $5,000 in fuel while driving less overall.

After adding the Jeep, we drove more and still spent around $1,600 less on fuel.

That’s when it clicked.

The truck wasn’t the problem.
The way we were using it was.

Billie is built to pull the house.

Moxie made it easier to actually live once we got there.

Side note:
Actually tracking the numbers changed the way we travel.

We use Simply Auto for fuel logs, maintenance, mileage, and repair tracking so we can stop arguing with “I feel like…” and look at real numbers instead.

For the first few years on the road, the dually did EVERYTHING.

Towing.
Exploring.
Day trips.
Errands.
Grocery runs.

And honestly… we didn’t realize how much wear, fuel, and stress we were putting on the truck until we added the Jeep.

After that, the truck finally just got to tow.

We explored MORE while putting 10,000 fewer miles on the dually in a year.

More exploring. Less wear. 🚛

I fully expected these to be gimmicky.

Like one of those tools that looks amazing online…

and then immediately disappoints you in real life.

…but these are actually impressive.

The amount of extra hold they add is ridiculous for how tiny they are.

By the end of this video my brain was already going: “okay now I need these on every drill” 😂

Not every diesel station moves fuel at the same speed.
One thing I’ve learned over time is that busy diesel lanes are usually a good sign. More turnover typically means fresher fuel sitting in the tanks for less time.
That doesn’t mean every small station has bad fuel.
But when I’ve got Billie hooked to the trailer and we’re traveling, I usually trust high-volume truck stops way more than random empty diesel pumps.
Little habits matter over time. 🚛

Most diesel owners aren't trying to hurt their truck. They just don't realize how much repeated cold starts and short runs add up over time.

If the truck barely got to Temp before shutting it back down, the oil hasn't fully stabilized yet either. That matters more on diesels than people think!

Especially on toe rigs that spend their life working.

Billie's got over 100,000 mi towing on her now and the more I learn, the more I realize small habits matter.

Every “quick project” starts with confidence and ends with extra tools everywhere.

Some of y’all know EXACTLY what this feels like 😂

Younger generations will never understand the emotional damage of waiting 3 days for a song download… just for it to be the wrong version 😂

RV cabinets waste SO much space…

…so I made a drop-down silverware drawer underneath ours.

Drawer organizer. A couple hinges. Scrap wood. Too much confidence.

And honestly? It worked great.

Until thousands of miles of RV travel started trying to rip it apart.

Now every repair is basically: “Ohhhh… THAT was the weak point.”

Still worth it though.

That’s kind of the fun of building your own stuff. You don’t really know if the design is good until the road tests it for you.
