They may not look like anything more than overgrown lettuce, but don’t be fooled. Calendula is one of the most extraordinary plants you’ll meet.
The flowers are edible—beautiful in salad- and can be used to make salve. They will offer blooms well past the killing frosts of October—just when we need a glimmer of hope to carry us through the dark winter months. We could sing their praises endlessly as their virtues are many, and we hope you’ll sing them too!
We consider them one of our specialties here at Evermay, and there is no better time than now to plant them.
