MAID / CLEANING SERVICE ~VS~ PROFESSIONAL ORGANIZER – What’s the difference?
There’s been more than a few times where I’ve been compared to a maid. It seems to shock people when I explain that I do not provide a maid cleaning service, but provide an organizing service which enables you to be organized moving forward.
Organizing and cleaning are entirely distinct undertakings which require you to have different thought processes and actions.
Cleaning
Cleaning involves the use of cleaning products such as dust cloths, disinfectant, brooms, mops, cleaners, etc. Examples of cleaning activities include mopping, sweeping, scrubbing, vacuuming.
Organizing
This means sorting out the clutter and items in your home or office and deciding what you should keep, what can be donated and what simply needs to be throw away. You need to decide on the value of these possessions and what you really use or need in your area.
Organizing is a very personal and emotional process managing your belongings. It requires time and patience to go through the items and decide what to discard or keep; this is why I work 1-2-1 with my clients. We also work together to decide how to organize the items that are remaining in the home, so that we can create a system that will work for them in the future.
A Cleaning Service is ongoing, typically scheduled weekly or bi-weekly. The average fee for a 3/2 home ranges between $100.00 - $150.00 for generalized cleaning, taking no more than 4 hours.
Many customers continue utilizing a cleaning service. The difference being, instructions are given to place items, where its home is unknown, in a set space for the homeowner to sort out and organize upon returning home.
Organizing Service: A Professional Home Organizer is someone that helps you to overcome clutter and disorganization to make your life, less stressful and your time more efficient.
A Professional Home Organizer not only helps you organize your belongings, we also create easy-to-follow systems to help ensure that it’s easily maintained and can be kept that way.
Organizers’ will work with you, side by side, helping you sort through the entire process, or per the customer’s direction, be ready to get down and dirty and do everything themselves. They are there to sort, file, de-clutter, and de-stress, making your home a better place to live.
The benefits of getting organized are endless. You’ll find yourself having more time and less stress. You will know where everything is located (which saves time and huge headaches), and it will make your life easier and, more importantly, happier. Your environment plays a huge part on your attitude, outlook, and even blood pressure levels. Life is much less stressful when your environment is organized.
Having an organized home, office, or garage, is far more than just having the ability to find what you're looking for. It's a fact that disorganization and clutter can impact your management of time, your relationships, and your feeling of well-being.
As one of my clients so eloquently put it: “when the two services are put into perspective, an Organizer is worth every penny that's charged and then some.”
**I've yet to have a dissattisfied customer nor have I had any struggle in collecting my fee. I've been tipped, but not once have I had to dun a client."
