We are so thankful to have snagged second place in the contest today! Thank you so much to everyone who came and said such nice things about our scarecrow and display. We will see everyone tomorrow the Ottawa Fall Fest & Parade with fresh baked cinnamon rolls and COLD apple cider!

Yesterday we released two beautiful female monarchs into the world! 🦋

Did you know you can tell the difference between males and females? Males have a small black dot on each hind wing and thinner wing veins, while females don’t have the dots and their veins are thicker and darker.

Our two girls are now on their way south toward Mexico, where they’ll spend their time sipping nectar and helping the next generation take flight.

Hello everyone!

I want to take a moment to share my deepest gratitude and appreciation for the love, support, and kindness you’ve shown me over the past 16 years as I poured my heart into Garden’s Gate. What began as a passion for all things green and growing has become one of the greatest joys of my life—building not just a business, but a community.

As life does, it brings change. I am excited to share with you that Garden’s Gate has officially been sold to someone who shares the same passion and dedication I’ve always had for this business. Many of you already know her—she has been an integral part of Garden’s Gate for the past five seasons. It is with great pride that I introduce the new owner of Garden’s Gate: Kayla Rivers.

Kayla will be relocating the greenhouses and creating her own beautiful space near Heritage Harbor, just in time for spring. While there will be some changes, you can look forward to the same high-quality plants, inspiring workshops, and, most importantly, a continued love of all things “planty.” I encourage you to show her the same warmth and support you have always shown me as she grows Garden’s Gate into its next chapter.

As for me, I have been given the opportunity of a lifetime to create a new horticultural legacy and share my passion with a new community. While I am beyond excited for this new challenge, Ottawa will forever hold a special place in my heart. Thank you, Ottawa, for embracing me, believing in me, and making Garden’s Gate what it is today.

I will miss you all dearly, but I know Garden’s Gate is in the best of hands with Kayla.
