Freezing temperatures increase the risk of tree and limb failure as wood fibers become stiff and brittle—especially in dead or weakened branches.

General risk thresholds:
• Below 32°F – Small limbs and deadwood become brittle
• Below 25°F – Dead branches may fail without warning
• Below 15°F – Live limbs lose flexibility
• Below 10°F – Increased risk of limb or trunk fracture

Wind, ice, and snow significantly raise failure potential, even in healthy trees. Property owners should avoid standing or parking beneath trees during freezing conditions and consider professional evaluation when weather improves.

Man what a day!

🌳 Another Dangerous Elm — Gone! 🌳

This old elm was dead, hollow, and one Oklahoma storm away from crashing down onto the power lines and possibly even the customers house! Our crew at Overstreet Tree Co. safely removed it before it became a real problem.
