It seems like a simple fix, if the internet is slowing down, just unplug the router and plug it back in right? Wrong. The issue will always come back. A bad WiFi connection is usually the root cause. Networking devices often have no fans or moving parts, they were engineered to work continuously for years on end. The only thing restarting the router does is reset the connection to your devices.
Replace your router with a whole-home mesh system, or add access points to your network. If it's a single device or area that isn't working, it is often best to run an Ethernet cable to it. Office buildings have good WiFi coverage all throughout the building, why can't your house?
