I know there’s much debate about using slip fixes on mainlines, especially larger sizes (this is 2”.) I’ve made 100’s of repairs this way and so far haven’t had any issue. I’ve rarely seen them fail. The few I have seen are this type (the ones with unions.) This one didn’t fail at the union but at the seals themselves. I believe the issue was a result of the angles of the pipe (clear in photo 1.) I tried to make pipe as straight as possible but the mainline was slightly curved when installed. How’d I do?
