When was the first time I was exposed to the beauty of Chihuly glass? Was it the exhibition in San Francisco years ago or the Seattle Museum of Art while my daughter and I were on college tours? it must have been before then.
In my residential interior design class, we were tasked with designing a home and workspace for a celebrity. Hands down, no question, I chose Chihuly. Was it his rogue way of working, his love of hard rock or how he thrives on chaos that attracted me? Whatever the case, I studied his life and personality which informed my design. Remembering his love of Bruce Springsteen, I blasted “Born in the USA” during my design presentation…a bit of rogue seeping out from under my quiet ways.
