No matter how long it takes. No matter how hard it gets. You just keep going. 🛑😤🔨
Let’s talk about the reality of the grind on this Motivational Monday. Building something real—whether it’s a business, a family, or an elite commercial roofing system—is never easy. It requires long hours, sore muscles, and pushing through the days when you are completely exhausted.
No matter how much it hurts, you keep going. When the obstacles stack up and the weather is fighting you, you keep going. You wake up, you lace up your boots, and you refuse to let absolutely anything stop you.
At Gray Summit Roofing, that is the exact mindset our crews bring to the job site every single morning. We have faced the brutal heat, the freezing cold, and the most massive projects in the state, and we push through because we have a standard to uphold. We are unbelievably grateful and truly blessed to have the opportunity to serve this community and protect your homes the way that we do.
Whatever challenge is staring you down this week, put your head down and go get it done. We’ve got your back. 🤝⚒️

Sometimes a massive storm is exactly the push you need to finally upgrade your home's energy efficiency. 🛑🪟🏠
Paul and the Gray Summit Roofing crew are out in South Hampton today knocking out a heavy-duty restoration. This homeowner took a massive hit during a recent storm, sustaining heavy damage to their roof, gutters, and collateral exterior.
But instead of just replacing what was broken, they made a massive, smart investment in their property. While we are on-site rebuilding the exterior, we are also installing brand-new, premium windows. This upgrade is going to drastically improve their home's insulation and save them a ton of money on their energy bills long-term.
Here is the crazy part about storm damage: it usually doesn't hit just one house.
While Paul was on-site, he looked right across the street and spotted massive storm damage on the neighbor's roof as well. He walked over, offered a free inspection, and found enough damage that she immediately filed a claim. We have an adjustment scheduled with her insurance company next week to make sure she gets fully compensated too.
If your house took a hit, or if you just see the Gray Summit trucks in your neighborhood, do not hesitate to ask us for an inspection. We are here to help, and we know exactly what to look for. 🏢🛠️

The South County heat is absolutely brutal right now, but you cannot put a premium roof over a failing foundation. ☀️🔨🏠
Right now, the Gray Summit Roofing crew is out in South County St. Louis, and they are putting in the heavy-duty work in some serious heat. We didn't just show up to nail down some shingles today. We are doing a full re-deck on this property before the new roofing system ever touches the house.
When we pull the old materials off and find out the plywood underneath is compromised, we don't just cover it up and hope for the best. That is exactly how roofs fail prematurely. Our crews are out here sweating it out, tearing off the bad wood, and installing a completely new, rock-solid deck so this home is protected for decades.
The heat is challenging, to say the very least. But this crew does not cut corners, and we don't look for the easy way out. We get the job done, and we get it done exactly right.
Massive respect to the guys on the roof today! If your property needs a heavy-hitting team that does the job right from the foundation up, give us a call. 🏢🛠️

A premium roof is only as good as the wood underneath it. Sometimes, that means completely rebuilding the foundation in 100-degree heat. ☀️🔨🏠
Ginger and the Gray Summit Roofing crew are out in Clayton this week wrapping up a massive, heavy-duty project. When we tore the old roof off yesterday, we found exactly what homeowners dread: almost all of the plywood decking was completely rotted out.
You can never install a new roofing system over bad wood. It is a massive liability. So, the guys put their heads down and pushed through 100-degree heat to do a near-full re-deck on the house to make sure the foundation was 100% solid.
Here is exactly what the crew is knocking out to get this property fully dialed in:
Massive Re-Decking: Tearing out the rotted plywood and installing a heavy-duty, secure foundation.
Premium Shingles: Laying down a flawless new system with gorgeous Moire Black shingles on the main house.
Garage Expansion: Tearing off and replacing the entire roof over the detached garage today.
Sunroom Upgrades: Installing brand-new skylights over the back sunroom to bring in tons of natural light.
Massive respect to this crew for putting in the grueling work in the absolute peak of the Missouri heat. We do not cut corners, even when the thermometer hits triple digits.
If you have any questions about our installation process or how we handle hidden damage like rotted decking, drop them in the comments or give us a call! 🏢🛠️

Here’s the top four reasons that all roofing companies fail 😱

08/29/2026

We just completely tore down an entire wall of brand-new siding on a job site, and we are not hiding the reason why. 🛑🔨🏠
When you are installing premium James Hardie siding, there are three absolute, non-negotiable rules:
1. Nail flush.
2. Nail to the stud.
3. Nail directly on the nail line.
If you watch the video, you will see exactly what happens when those rules aren't followed. The nail guns were turned up way too high, and the nails were placed above the line instead of directly on it. A lot of guys mistake that line for an overlap guide like you use with roofing shingles. Because of that one mistake, the siding boards were loose. You should never be able to wiggle a Hardie board.
We could have easily left it. Most homeowners would never know the difference. But at Gray Summit Roofing, if it isn't 100% right, we tear it off and do it again.
To make sure this never happens again, we brought the entire crew out to beautiful Farmington today for hands-on, on-site training with Billy, our official rep directly from James Hardie. We went straight to the source to dial in our install practices, learn from the best, and ensure we get it right the first time.
Here is the blue-collar truth: we are not perfect. We are human, and mistakes happen. But I can absolutely guarantee you that by the time we leave your property, the final result will be flawless. 🤝⚒️
