Check out the roots on these 2 trees at Missouri Botanical Garden! Wow!!! If you can't see the flare of your trunk where it meets the root then you may have a problem.

TREE OF THE WEEK! 🌳 American Elm (Ulmus americana) Excellent specimen of a rare and SPECIAL tree.... It measures 48" diameter!!! There aren't many of these left in the country. After the decimation of American Elm but Dutch Elm Disease (a fungal infection), these survivor trees of this size are unique.

TREE OF THE WEEK! Southern Magnolia (Magnolia grandiflora) Valentine's Day ❤️ is here and according to sources: "In ancient China, magnolias were thought to be symbols of womanly beauty and gentleness. They also symbolize loyalty and strength."

Though most of our most showy magnolia trees are without leaves and flowers in the winter months, the Southern Magnolia displays a deep green crown that endures all year - like love is supposed to do.

We are one of more than 3500 communities to meet the program’s four requirements: a tree board or department, a tree-care ordinance, an annual community forestry budget of at least $2 per capita, and an Arbor Day observance and proclamation.

Trees are assets to a community when properly planted and maintained. Among the many benefits, trees help improve a neighborhood’s visual appeal, increase property values, reduce home cooling costs, remove air pollutants, and provide wildlife habitat.
