A little photo dump of the past week and a farm update.
I have all of the trays and first round of dahlias planted 🙌🏻🙌🏻
Any dahlias I plant now are just “extras” that I already have some of that variety in the ground.
I’ve been planting since the beginning of March and really intensely for the past month so I’m glad to almost be “done”.
But every thing is looking so good! I’ll film a little farm walkthrough this week ☺️

I made Vince take my picture with the flowers today because..
This is probably the best round of ranunculus I have ever grown.
I’m seriously impressed with myself lol 😂
I think it probably has something to do with the fact I’ve been working on improving the soil in these beds the last few seasons. Fingers crossed I can replicate next year because 😍

It’s Earth Day!
I have always had an appreciation for nature. We did a lot of hiking and camping as a family when I was growing up. My mom was always out in the flower gardens.
Being a steward of my little section of land has therefore been a priority for me as I’ve grown the farm.
I use as many ecosystem friendly practices as I can. I don’t use any herbicides and the only pesticide I use is beer for the slugs when they get a little out of hand 😅
I’ve found that there will be pests and issues, but that nature usually balances out. When aphids are multiplying out of control, after not too much time the lady bugs 🐞 will show up to take care of business.
A few things you can do to help your local ecosystem this earth day:
1.Plant something the pollinators can eat. Are native plants best? Probably. But as long as it’s not an invasive plant, plant something. Butterflies love zinnias.
2. Set up a bird bath or a small dish with stones. This allows the birds, squirrels and bees to get a drink of water.
3. Go outside and just enjoy nature.
4. If you want to do something a little more time intensive, start a compost pile or see how you can contribute to a local compost community. Food waste is a huge contributor to greenhouse gas emissions. And returning those nutrients to the soil is a much better option than them sitting in a landfill.

I know most of you are in the midst of seed starting and dreaming of the last frost date. So I thought I’d share this observation I had of my seedlings.

Little photo dump from this weekend 🐰Lots of fun family time, Christmas tree saplings, zinnias and signs of spring.

April means ANEMONES!
Anemones are always one of my earliest blooming spring cut flower.
Every year I add more and get a few new colors and more plants. This year’s new color is a blush purple that I can’t wait to share with you.

Spring has entered the chat! It’s looking like before long I’ll have tulips blooming!!
