Not all jobs are about fixing or building things, sometimes they are more on so many levels. This morning, we’ll…. It was dirty, it was a tight space, it was exhausting and heartbreaking at times; but the reward, the reward was pure JOY.

Mom 🐈‍⬛ thought it was safe to hide her babies under a porch, not knowing that there was a 2” gap between the old stairs and foundation that a curious baby would squeeze itself into. The real problem was on the other side of that gap. It was all open and a 4’ drop with no way to get back out. Both babies are back with their mom 🐈‍⬛ and all is right in my part of the world today.

As we approach the businesses’ 3rd birthday, I can’t help but reflect back on the past year. I find myself very blessed, grateful and humbled that this small business has so far survived the pandemic while others have not.

I had the privilege of working with an amazing couple this week on a project that not only meant so much to them, but became one of the most fulfilling projects I have ever worked on.
To completely grasp the depth of this, you need to know that this used to be her parents house.
When I met with them 2 months ago the original plan was to remove the cabinets and install new ones, but that quickly changed. We were able to come up with a plan that would save these cabinets. Not only would they still match the rest of the kitchen and even save them some $, but it would also save something so absolutely priceless. Something that I was unaware of until this week.
If you look at the first picture, on the inside of the open door on the right, you will see a bunch of randomly placed hooks. Above each hook is a hand written name, one for each of the kids. This is where Mom and Dad kept the extra house keys 🔑 in case one of them got locked out, lost their keys or just needed things checked on.
I feel so beyond blessed that I was able to be part of this. ❤️

Knowing when it’s time for a new appliance can be hard. This dishwasher happens to be ours. It started throwing codes and not finishing cycles at the beginning of the year. I pulled it, replaced the element and reset the control board. Cost of part $45. Worked great for about 5 months, started throwing codes again. Knew it couldn’t be the element, so reset the control board. Worked for another 2 months. Codes were more frequent and to reset them the entire front panel needs to be removed to get to them. So the control board is bad 🙃. Cost of a new board $300. Cost of new dishwasher with a warranty $600. Yes, I could put a new board in it and save $, but what happens in a year if the pump goes. So if the appliance is 7+ years old and the repairs are more than 50% of the cost of a new appliance, get the new appliance.

You can easily change the look and feel of a space with paint.
