Did you know that the concept of a "password" is thousands of years old? Ancient Roman soldiers used a system called the "tessera", a clay or wooden tablet with a secret word engraved on it, which was shared among soldiers each day. By requiring a secret WORD to PASS through, they could prevent intruders from sneaking into camps or cities.
