Have you ever wondered what the different between semi-gloss and eggshell is? We're here to help! A guide to paint finishes:
Flat/Matte
* Sheen: No shine at all.
* Best For: Ceilings, low-traffic areas, and walls with imperfections.
* Pros: Hides imperfections well, gives a smooth, non-reflective look.
* Cons: Less durable, difficult to clean without damaging the finish.
Eggshell
* Sheen: Low sheen, with a soft, velvety finish.
* Best For: Living rooms, bedrooms, and dining rooms.
* Pros: Slightly more durable than flat, easier to clean, subtle sheen adds a bit of dimension.
* Cons: Not as durable as higher sheen finishes.
Satin
* Sheen: Slightly glossy, with a smooth, pearl-like appearance.
* Best For: High-traffic areas like kitchens, bathrooms, hallways, and children's rooms.
* Pros: Durable, more washable than eggshell or flat, resists moisture.
* Cons: Can show imperfections on walls due to the sheen.
Semi-Gloss
* Sheen: Noticeable shine, though not overly glossy.
* Best For: Trim, doors, cabinets, bathrooms, and kitchens.
* Pros: Very durable, highly resistant to moisture and easy to clean.
* Cons: Reflects light, which can show imperfections in the surface.
High Gloss
* Sheen: Extremely shiny and reflective.
* Best For: Areas that require a durable, easy-to-clean finish, such as doors, trim, and furniture.
* Pros: Most durable, easiest to clean, resists scuffs and stains.
* Cons: Highlights surface imperfections, requires careful surface preparation.
