I finally got to use my welder.

I broke the shift lever on my 2013 Arctic Cat Prowler XTZ. Rather than trying to order the part, I decided to use my welder for the very first time.

Success! All four leaf springs, the U-bolts, and spring shackles are replaced, torqued, and greased. Four new tires installed. Our RV is now ready for its road test!

This was a physically demanding installation, but mechanically straightforward.

All-in, this was about a $1500 repair, including the extra jack stands I had to buy, all the parts, and the new tires. I bet if I had a shop do this it would have been double that at least.

Homesteading is a lifestyle that includes being as self-reliant and capable as you can be. I love stretching and doing projects like this, because it gives me the opportunity to learn more, save money, and develop new capabilities.
