For those of you that don’t know, our store is a family-owned business in which the love of crafting has been passed down for a couple of generations now.
Our grandfather (Bill’s father), Delmer, loved crafting. He made all sorts of wonderful creations both for himself and for others. Since childhood, I have always loved the wooden calendar he made which was similar to many back in the day. I knew I had to make it.
Seeing his creations was fun, but until I started making crafts myself, I don’t think I fully appreciated the skill and effort my Grandpa put into his work. This calendar is no exception. I started this project with a simple expectation of just quickly replicating a fun craft that my Grandpa made. However, the “quickly” expectation was quelled once I began.
These calendars were laborious, but truly a labor of love. All the numbers, designs, and months were hand painted. There were a few hand cramps along the way, but we managed to complete seven calendars in total. These seven will be the only calendars that enter our store, so if you have any interest in having one, we recommend coming before it’s too late.
