On a call last night I was reminded of the potential problems with free standing vaporizers or humidifiers. Some create a dust similar to drywall dust and clog furnace filters causing them to overheat. I've seen this many times now. Be sure to check and change your filters often to avoid service calls and damage to your furnace if using the one of the devices mentioned. Post for anyone with a forced air gas furnace in your home.

ALERT!!! PLEASE Place carbon monoxide detectors where you sleep as close to supply registers as possible.

Most people place them in hallways or mechanical rooms which is OK but does not protect you where you need it most.

Hard to believe a company deemed this safe so a customer could sell the house. I literally put my finger right through the firewall/heat exchanger plate. Secondary exchanger leaking directly on electronics. Same company put a 17" ac coil on top of this 24" furnace which translates to only half of the furnace getting airflow. This overheated the right side of furnace where most of the damage occurred. Home inspectors are great but can only do so much. This inspector knew it was no good and recommended it be checked and serviced before buying the house. Hence the company that does work for the owner serviced and provided a reciept deeming it safe supposedly. This furnace literally fell apart when we removed it. This is why Family Heating and Cooling offers free consultations to new home buyers.
