"Telluric" oil on Canvas, 20x20"

This painting explores the unstable boundary between the human body and unseen energetic forces. Inspired partly by telluric currents — the natural electrical currents flowing through the earth — the work imagines the figure as both transmitter and receiver, suspended within invisible systems of motion, tension, and transformation.

“The government itself, which is only the mode which the people have chosen to execute their will, is equally liable to be abused and perverted before the people can act through it.”

This painting presents a solitary female figure suspended within a shifting field of clouds, curled inward as she gathers her dress. With no ground beneath her, the image evokes a moment of weightlessness where wonder and risk quietly intersect.

The work is inspired by states of precarity—transitional moments when vulnerability heightens awareness rather than diminishing it. The figure’s posture suggests both protection and surrender, framing fragility as a luminous condition. The surrounding clouds act as both refuge and instability, mirroring the tension between safety and exposure.

Rendered in oil for its capacity to capture subtle transitions of skin, fabric, and atmosphere, the realist figure anchors the image while the surreal setting carries the emotional narrative. The painting is executed with professional-grade oil paints on archival canvas and is sold as a loose canvas, unmounted on stretcher bars, allowing flexibility in framing.
