🌲 COMMUNITY HELPING COMMUNITY 🌲

The Ridge Roots Project was created to help address qualifying tree safety concerns for residents here on the Ridge.

Each quarter, one project will be selected based on overall risk, urgency, and potential community impact. This is not a raffle or random drawing — submissions are reviewed using professional arborist assessment to help prioritize the most critical situations first. Our goal is not to duplicate efforts, so we will be focusing on projects that fall within a gap in other available resources.

Projects may include concerns involving:
• Hazard trees near homes or access routes
• Safety risks affecting elderly or disabled residents
• Trees impacted by storms, fire damage, or decline
• Situations creating immediate defensible space or access concerns

Even if a project is not selected, submissions help us better understand the safety concerns facing our community, and we’re always happy to provide general guidance whenever possible.

I found this abnormality on a redwood tree I was assessing today. Notice how the needles on the upper/new growth are curled and distorted, while the older foliage below remains relatively normal.

This type of deformation is commonly associated with herbicide exposure or drift injury from nearby w**d control products.

Once we determine what product may have been applied and the extent of exposure, we can develop a management plan focused on reducing stress and supporting the tree’s recovery.

Seems like as soon as we get a stretch of sunshine, everyone starts looking at their trees again.
If you’ve been thinking about pruning, removals, or defensible space work, we’re now scheduling upcoming projects before the busy season fully kicks in.

For years, this community has supported our family, our business, and our crews through every season imaginable.

We’ve watched neighbors help neighbors, families rebuild, and this Ridge continue to stand strong through incredibly difficult times.

Giving back to our community has always been important to us, and over the years we’ve tried to help where we could in many different ways. But as our company has grown, we found ourselves wanting to create something more intentional — something with structure and the ability to make the biggest impact possible with the resources we have available.

Today, we’re proud to introduce Ridge Roots.

Ridge Roots is a new community stewardship initiative founded by All Things Trees with the goal of helping local Ridge residents facing legitimate tree-related safety concerns who may not otherwise have the resources to address them.

This won’t be a contest or random giveaway.
It will be thoughtful, intentional, and centered around real need, safety, and community impact.

Over the next couple weeks, we’ll share more about how the program works and how nominations will open. Stay tuned for more information.
