Horsetails (Equisetum) is one of the oldest plant groups on Earth.
Horsetail has been around for hundreds of millions of years, and it still has a place in the garden today.
One of my favorite plant feeds, and you can make it yourself!
Find some horsetail and pluck off the top half, being careful not to pull up the roots or rhizomes. If you do disturb any, simply bury them back in the soil.
Break the plants into pieces and steep them in water at a 1:10 ratio for about 1 hour. Add raw cane sugar, allow it to cool, and ferment for 1 week.
The result is a creamy, LAB-rich ferment containing silica, beneficial microorganisms, and enzymes. A natural surfactant that can be drenched or applied by foliar spray 🌱
A fascinating natural plant feed for supporting plant strength and resilience.
