We finally gave our own kitchen island the makeover it deserved!

This custom countertop was handcrafted using elm from our family home in Colorado, making it a piece that’s full of memories.

Fun fact: Many of the unique accents and inlay were created from odds and ends of wood that might otherwise have gone unused. Instead of letting those pieces go to waste, they were carefully incorporated into a one of a kind design that tells its own story.

Sometimes the most beautiful pieces come from the materials others might overlook.

I'm excited to share my latest creations after a brief hiatus, during which I prioritized caution to avoid scams. I'm thrilled to showcase these beautifully crafted chessboard game tables, made with love as Christmas gifts for my grandchildren. Each table boasts a unique blend of woods, such as padauk and maple, elm and maple, and walnut and maple. Every table features two pullout drawers with dividers, perfect for storing handmade game pieces.

I was commissioned to create a knife block for a valued client, who also happens to be my sister. She had previously purchased one of my quilt pattern cutting boards, prompting me to design a matching block. The dark red wood is Paduak, complemented by hard maple, cherry, and elm in the pattern, with elm also used for the sides. I applied a hard oil finish, Rubio Monocoat, which was recommended to me and proved to bring out the richness of the wood effectively.

The pantry shelf unit I constructed is a freestanding design consisting of three bolted sections. The exterior surfaces of the shelves and frame are crafted from hard maple, and the shelving is made of particle board. A two-coat polyurethane finish provides a durable, long-lasting surface. During assembly, the bottom three sections were installed first, followed by the top shelf. I am satisfied with the final result.

I've been repurposing my smaller cutoffs and would like to showcase a few projects. 1: A taco tray featuring cherry and maple, with dividers crafted from highly figured elm. 2: Coasters and stand, both crafted from cherry. 3: Coasters and stand, featuring elm, cherry, oak, and maple. 4: A chevron pattern created from end grain plywood. 5: the base to number 3. Was able to create a heart from a knot.
