Good morning.
I’m in a slight pinch.

Last year I put Resch Safe and Lock on the back burner for family needs.
After the pandemic and having the large gap of time where all I did was pay my insurance to keep the business up and running. All it did was bleed out.
I surrendered to the situation.

As recent as this summer, I’ve had more calls for service then I ever anticipated! Thank you to all my friends and customers who believe in me. BUT..
I don’t know what to do!

The amount of money and opportunities I’ve referred away or passed up is too big to ignore.
Part of the reason I’m apprehensive is because my business tended to run me.

After sleeping on my thoughts I’ve decided to let you play a role in helping to form that opinion.

I am extremely limited in my free time.
If I had my choice I would find, refurbish, and flip safes from home and that’s it.

I know the late customer who shows up as the front door is being locked at 5pm. Stuck in traffic and frustrated for missing all my competitors store hours.
I can fill that gap. Something like 5-8pm. By appointment only.

Services I’m considering:
House/car keys made/fixed respelling keys/remotes, lock repairs/rekeying, as well as the all safe stuff and occasional safe moves.

Any input is welcome.
Good or bad.

Just reprogrammed one original and a newer remote to this 98’ Buick LeSaber.
This car idles beautifully. The interior is great shape! I love classics. Kind of like hearing Metallica on 100.7 The Bay.
Newly classic.

I delivered and bolted down the blue Amsec safe this evening. This was the thickest subfloor I ever lag bolted into! 2 layers of 5/8” plywood with 5/8 oak hardwood on top of the plywood.

I like the color of this safe a lot. I get tired of grey and black.

As a favor, I removed this closet interior and hauled the Gardall safe away.

The Gardall was installed while the paint was tacky so there is white paint on the sides and top.

The Gardall is for sale. Feel free to message me.

Went into a closed down funeral home on the westside to extract this safe for my customer.
What a cool customer.
Steve Jones passed me along as a word of mouth referral. Steve also goes by the nickname, Stack. If any of my friends know him please give him my number. I want to thank him.

Gerren, thank you for all your help! You are invaluable to me.

I have slowed my business operation so much over the last year or so.

Hang with me here.
I had a good customer refer me to a friend.
That friend was going to pay to have his friend’s dad’s safe opened. I checked with the wife to make sure she was ok with the plans.
The wife is now the legal owner of the safe.

I set up my rig and got drilling. The lock is protected by harden steel floating plates. Not a real challenge for me. I scoped it unlocked.
I called her in once the safe was unlocked so she could open it.

This is the hard part for me.
This moment is why I love what I do.
The look on the wife’s when looking inside their loved one’s safe is almost comparable to “getting engaged” and “reliving a death” type reaction.
It’s a heavy mix of tears and giggles.
Among the contents is a envelope saying “small but important.” It had love letters, old photos, receipts and I think some baby teeth.
That also happens to be the consistency of my wealth. So right away I felt a connection to her and her husband that passed. This moment is something only a safe-cracker can have. I feel honored to be a part of it. It may be painful times but I get to see some healing in real-time.

That was emotional for me watching the son help mom sort through the contents. He was an adult but I saw his emotions well up at some of the memories the contents stir up.

In my 25 years doing safe and vault I have done this hundreds of times. But every time I do this for a family who’s loved one passed, it’s just as heavy and emotional for me as the very first time.
I feel like sort of an unlicensed emotional therapist too I guess.

My tip was the BIGGEST hug.
Y’all know I am a hugger so that was the best way end my head-spinning 2019!

Garrett came out with me to rekey a store. He cut the keys. He made sure everything was lubricated and tight. I checked his work and made the bar mount screws a little tighter. But that’s it. He did really well. Most of all it’s his professionalism and manners with my customers where he really shines bright.

I went and did some emergency service to a vault door at Laurel Park. My Brother in-law and I lifted the vault door off the hinges and serviced the hinge butte and bushing/bearings.

It was very nice to see my work last. I did that big job back 12/9/15.

You can push my customer’s 1.5 ton door closed with 1 finger.
