This Saturday, April 18, 9am - 3pm
FNPS Spring Wildflower Festival & Native Plant Sale

The Serenoa Chapter of the Florida Native Plant Society is hosting their annual fundraiser at Sweet Bay Nursery. A percentage of the plant sales that day will be donated to FNPS for their non-profit endeavors throughout the year. Lots of great plants, vendors, food and fun! FNPS members get a 15% discount off plant purchases! Join onsite to receive your discount.

Plant spotlight: Pineland Acacia (Vachellia farnesiana var. pinetorum)

Pictured here is our very own pineland acacia in full bloom at the nursery. It is spectacular! With its delicate foliage and fragrant puffball yellow flowers it is an attractive small tree to consider for your home landscape, reaching only 6’-10’ high. Pineland acacia is a subspecies of sweet acacia which gets much taller. The acacias are thorny, so keep that in mind. We have both pineland and sweet acacia available for sale at the nursery.

Cold temperatures are coming our way!

Depending on where you live, you may experience freezing temperatures starting early Friday morning. Some south Florida plants can be susceptible to cold damage, so if temperatures in your area drop in the low 30’s, we suggest covering sensitive plants with a blanket or sheet.

Even if your plants get a little burned by the cold, they will usually come back when the weather warms up. Pictured here: tropical sage and porterweed can be sensitive to falling temperatures.
