Today’s free estimate. Coventry RI. Customer reached out with a concern about a leak. Set up my 32ft ladder and ridge hook ladder to safely gain access to the chimney. Upon inspection the lead flashing was exposed. There were multiple holes in the mortar joints. No chimney cap. The crown wash (cement at the top of chimney) is deteriorating. I gave an estimate to seal the lead flashing, repoint the chimney, install a chimney cap, lay a new crown wash and to waterproof the chimney. By doing these repairs and preventative measures the chimney will be completely weather proof, tightly sealed and properly functioning. Customer received 10% off along with brochures for each product which comes with a warranty.

What better way to enjoy this weather today than getting a job in! Today’s job in Seekonk Ma. Installed a custom sized stainless steel chimney cap, water proofed the entire chimney, sealed the crown wash, sealed the lead flashing and sealed the boot to the woodstove.

The other days job. Providence RI. Repeat customer. Stuccoed the chimney section that is in the attic. I cleaned off any big chunks of mortar to create as flat of a surface as possible. I removed all the horse hair insulation that was packed in the sides of the chimney. Applied a thick layer of a bonding agent. Then I installed mesh lath securing it with masonry nails before applying the stucco. Did 2 coats to ensure it is solid. Customer was very impressed.

The final out come! Full brick wall tear down and rebuild. Added more wall ties. Installed a steel angle mount to support the weight of the bluestone. I also moved the location of the bluestone further up to meet fire codes as it is required to be 12in away from the woodstove pipe. Here are some during and after pictures. The top rows above the bluestone are still fresh in the finished pictures. Loved every part of doing this job!
