I’m just gonna be really honest here. I am extremely disappointed in the quality of product currently being sold by Re*****on. I am very surprised by the quality (or lack thereof) of their factory rifle barrels.
Honestly, I’m actually disappointed in just about every fi****ms manufacturer these days.
Doing what I do for a living I see a pretty good cross section of different fi****ms, and from what I’m seeing anything made before the late 90’s is of much, much better quality.

Sucks doing this by hand, but I’m scared as hell to put this in my lathe chuck. I’m installing Tru-Choke threads in the muzzle. I do not want to break the rib if the barrel accidentally spins in the chuck, and I don’t want to over tighten it because it’s a thin wall barrel. Anybody out there have any experience/advice putting a ribbed shotgun barrel in a 4 jaw chuck?

Here is a C**t Model 1903, designed by John Browning. John liked to use leaf type springs whenever he could. On the left you will see the trigger/sear/safety spring, similar to the one found in the 1911. On the right is the hammer spring. You’ll see that it is a leaf type spring. Almost all other firearm designers would use a coil type spring for the hammer. Not John. But when he designed the 1911 just a few years later (in which he used a lot of features from his 1903 design) John used a coil type spring for the hammer.

This Saturday we will be 3 weeks out from opening day of deer season here in Zone A. Just a friendly reminder, if you are going to want me to do work on your rifle, that you should get it in as soon as possible. Right now I’m about two weeks out on any gun dropped off today. If you wait too long I may not have your rifle ready for you in time for you to get some range time in before opening day, or I might not even have it ready by opening day. So if you are needing or wanting any work done it’s best to get it in as soon as possible.

I am now performing ammo transfers. You can order ammo online and have it shipped to me provided the seller has my information in file already. If not, let me know who the seller is and where they want me to send my info. My fee is $5.00 per 500 rounds. If the ammo is not picked up within 48 hours of delivery I will charge a $25 holding fee. I am a gunsmith and I don’t have the room to store a lot of ammo, so please pick it up as soon as you can. Thank you for supporting Liberty Gun Service. I really do appreciate your business.

In my shop I have a "Whisky Wall" that I'm often asked about. These are Islay single malts, my favorite whiskies. They are made on the island of Islay off the Western coast of Scotland and have a very distinct flavor. When customers ask why I have them up there I tell them because I will accept a bottle of Islay whisky as partial or full payment for services. Of the eight distilleries on the island I have tried six of them. So a bottle of Caol Ila or Kilchoman, the two I haven't tried yet, would be greatly appreciated 😊

Extractor, extractor plunger and spring from a R***r Mark I. The spring was so full of dirt, grease, and old gunpowder residue I had to use a punch down the center of it. I pushed out a brown plug, but the spring itself was in good shape because it was protected by it. On most semi auto handguns the extractor is usually the dirtiest part I find. This is also the first thing I look at when someone tells me they have an ejection or feeding problem. Feeding and ejection problems are almost always caused by extraction problems.

Just wanted to thank all of my customers for making my first full year in business a great one. Thank you for your patronage and allowing me the privilege of working on your fi****ms, even if some of them were very frustrating and caused me to just step away from the bench for a few minutes and take some deep breaths. You are all allowing me to live a dream and I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I wish you all the love and blessings of God in the new year. Good shooting and good hunting in 2017.
