Progress isn’t always loud. Sometimes it’s just showing up, doing the work, and refusing to quit.

Have a great week, everyone.

This kind of work will humble you real quick.

There’s a lot more that goes into this than people realize… where you cut, how the tree is going to react, making sure everything around it stays protected. One wrong move and it can go bad fast.

I’m just really proud of the work our crew puts in every day. They take their time, they do it right, and they look out for each other while they’re doing it.

Not always easy work, but it’s honest work. And it matters.

Ice is heavier than most people realize. ❄️🌳

With a winter storm watch just north of us and ice expected to be an issue, this is something we pay close attention to in the tree world.

A small amount of ice adds a surprising amount of weight. To put it into perspective

¼ inch of ice can add roughly 120 pounds of weight per foot of branch
½ inch of ice can add close to 500 pounds per foot

Those numbers are often used when talking about power lines, but that same weight ends up sitting on tree limbs during an ice storm.

That extra load is what causes branches to bend, crack, or fail completely. Trees that already have weak limbs, internal decay, or past storm damage are usually the first ones to give way. Many times the damage does not happen immediately and shows up after the storm once temperatures begin to change.

If you are near the storm path, keep an eye on your trees over the next several days. Ice damage is not always obvious at first.

Stay safe out there.
