Loving this soft summer blend featuring Miss Jekyll Nigella, Sahara Rudbekia, and Pycnanthemum.
And let me just say that if you are looking to attract a whole array of beneficial insects, Eryngium is going to be your best friend. I planted the Blue Glitter and White Glitter varieties 4 years ago, and there are so many different kinds of beneficals on them this year, it's crazy! Bees of all kinds, butterflies (especially Meadow Fritallry), Golden Digger wasps, and I saw a Great Black wasp, too, but it was big and intimidating, so I didn't want to bother it π I haven't even been cutting much of it because I am so fascinated by all the insects!
Digger wasps may seem scary, but they are generally non aggressive and great to have around. Plus, they are pollinators! They also help to control grasshopper, katydid, and grub populations! Im wondering if they have contributed to my lack of Japanese beetles this year π€ They are definitely still here, but far less than usual. Hopefully, it's another sign that my effort to increase biodiversity is actually making a difference.
