Don’t worry if you can’t get a Spartan costume in time. Volunteering as a safety walker is a fantastic alternative—it’s a lot of fun, and you’ll get to experience the event from the other side of the barricades. That’s exactly what got me hooked more than 20 years ago. And yes, that’s me doing the Hulk Hogan for which side cheered the loudest.

I had a blast crafting a top-notch workbench for a great friend’s new home, and let me tell you, this one’s a game-changer! It boasts a roomy 26x48-inch work surface, stands at a perfect 36-inch height, and comes loaded with a big pull-out drawer for all your storage needs, plus two handy shelves on each side of the top for extra convenience. I fitted it with rugged 3-inch casters, so you can roll it around effortlessly whenever the mood strikes. I built and fine-tuned every piece in my shop, then took it apart for the journey and reassembled it on-site, tweaking as needed—because, let’s be real, garage floors are about as level as a rollercoaster!
