Last month I stood on a roof in Littleton. It was a white three-tab that was less than 10 years old and covered with the random, black marks that indicate hail. Storm reports matched what we saw. There were dents in the metal roof components and siding trim that also correlated the claim. The black marks were of varying density which indicates directionality.
So, the USAA guy, a “senior claim rep,” got off the ladder and started walking away without discussion. “How long ‘til you get your report out?” “Oh, that’s normal wear and tear”
My jaw dropped.
Do you see? If you are an insurance carrier and you can redefine storm damage as “normal wear”, there is no claim.
