We have to clear out the greenhouse ASAP! This Saturday, Dec 14, from 11 am - 3 pm only.

We will be selling plants from “the back” : from props & divisions, to young plants growing out, to mother plants! Plus we’ll have some trees, outdoor plants, merchandise, furniture & driftwood.

All under cover if it’s raining!

We will NOT be selling carts, the big chime, or playhouse. :)

Please bring cash, or have PayPal or Venmo, we will not be able to process cards, checks, or Apple Pay.

Please note that only the front gate will be open for access & you will want to bring your own boxes.

Hey all, thanks for the wonderful response. Not only in just about clearing out inventory in two weeks, but also in kind words, thanks, and hugs.

This Saturday will be our last day. We will have final clearance on remaining inventory as well as a large garage sale of items including store fixtures*, tools, displays, antique farm equipment, and more!

Dear customers,

We will be closing the nursery as a retail store at the end of the month. This is truly a heartbreaking announcement for us to make, but one that is best for our family.

As a family owned business, we have served our community for just under fifty years helping gardeners learn how to grow gardens that thrive here in central Texas. For decades, we have emphasized organic practices, native plants, and gardening with nature. We have truly enjoyed helping people learn how to be successful gardeners, and if we have inspired you to garden with nature, to take joy in our native plants and critters, and to stop to smell the wildflowers then we have succeeded.

We will miss seeing all of our wonderful customers: y’all have not only supported the nursery, you have brought us homebaked treats, laughter, hugs, and many wonderful memories—even a few martinis! With a nursery that is just shy of 50 years old, we have had the joy of watching customers go from young homeowners, to young parents, to proud grandparents, then watched as the children that once tagged along with their parents are now bringing in children of their own. Over the years we have had so many wonderful employees each of whom contributed some special quality to the store, so many of them are still in our lives and we are lucky to have had them in ours.

We will cherish the memories of this place’s special visitors : the wonderful people, the sweet dogs, the families of foxes, the owls, all the birds, the lizards running everywhere, the monarchs in the cedars in fall. Green ‘n Growing has been a special place, an oasis in the city, the memories of which will hopefully stay with us all.

While our time as a retail business has ended, we will be expanding our educational content online starting next month, as Liz and Rhonda are both passionate about sharing their knowledge with y’all. Rhonda has already starting growing more of her beloved native plants, with plans to focus on harder to find natives, herbs & tropicals, and Liz is always up to something, Tim’s only plans are to perfect his smoked brisket and garden. While we take a break to consider future plans please keep in touch with us on our social media and website for updates.

Most importantly we want to thank you, our customers. Since 1975, it’s the people who have shopped with us that have meant not only our livelihood, but touched our lives.

Dealing with pests like aphids and mealybugs? Here’s what you need to know:

🌿 These bugs secrete sticky honeydew, leading to sooty black mold, especially on crape myrtles.
🐜 Ants often “farm” these pests, so control ants first! Use fire ant treatments or baits like Terro liquid ant bait.
For severe sooty mold, try washing off mold with a soap product like Safer Soap.
🐞Keep an eye out for beneficial insects like ladybugs and lacewings—they help control pests naturally!
