BH+L is pleased to announce that Sophie Marks and Kessa Weiss have joined our staff. Sophie received her Bachelor of Architecture degree from Penn State in 2024. She spent the last year working on large scale medical projects and will be an asset to our healthcare team. Kessa is pursuing her Bachelor of Architecture degree at Drexel where she is enrolled in the 2+4 program, working full-time at BH+L and attending classes in the evening. The “Quiet Lounge” that BH+L designed as an addition to last summer’s food court project is now complete. Gbuild Construction Managers was the contractor on both projects. We’re currently working on the College’s library and wellness center projects. Stay tuned for updates.

BH+L has completed a number of projects for Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. Or most recent projects are the renovation of two existing sites in North and West Philly. Following our renovation of Ursinus College’s Wismer Center lower level, the College asked us to redesign an adjacent office area as a more intimate lounge that provides a quieter alternative to the busier main dining and activity space. Gbuild Construction Managers and Atlantic Food Service will continue their involvement with the project.

Permits are in the works for this historic Brooklyn synagogue. Phase 1 of this project focuses on accessibility and security, and includes a renovation of the sanctuary, replacement of fixed pews with flexible seating on a leveled floor, an elevator, and an upgraded entrance and lobby. The B’ShERT building, on New York’s historic register, was completed in 1914. The synagogue’s name is an acronym of its two merged congregations: Beth Shalom and Emet Reform Temple forming the Yiddish word for “meant to be”.

It’s nearly 30 years since we restored the steeple on St. Augustine’s Church in Old City. The original steeple blew apart in a storm with pieces landing on the Ben Franklin Bridge which was closed for four days. We also designed a new standing seam roof and restored the interior to its 1896 appearance. The steeple was returned to its original Napoleon LeBrun design.
