Remove and dispose of the existing plywood subfloor down to the original plank (slat) board. Remove the original plank board to expose the framing and inspect the joists for integrity, level, and spacing. Reinforced joists as required.
Install new exterior-grade plywood subfloor, properly oriented with face grain perpendicular to the joists, staggered joints, and fastened with appropriate screws at required spacing. Ensure all seams are tight and the surface is flat.
Install underlayment over the plywood per manufacturer specifications, securing and taping seams as required to create a stable, crack-isolation base for tile installation.
Install 24” x 24” porcelain tile using a polymer-modified thin-set mortar suitable for large-format tile. Back-butter tiles as needed to achieve proper mortar coverage. Maintain consistent joint spacing, ensure proper alignment, and allow for required movement joints. Grout joints with appropriate grout, clean surface, and leave installation level, secure, and ready for use.
