1. Why do you think it is essential to celebrate Women’s History Month?
Women’s History Month is an opportunity to celebrate the great achievements of women in our profession, and to be reminded that there is still a lot of work to do. As leaders, educators, and mentors, we have the opportunity and responsibility to promote, elevate, and support the next generation of female leaders and work towards a more inclusive profession.
2. How has being a woman influenced the work you do in your career and/or with AIA?
As a business owner, I have the incredible privilege of creating opportunities, opening doors, and shaping policies. As a woman in this role, I see the critical importance of having diverse representation in leadership positions to create environments where more individuals can thrive.
3. How do you think the profession can change to encourage more equity?
With more female representation at the leadership level, rules can be challenged and changed to create a more inclusive environment, bringing more perspectives to the table, and creatively working together to shape the built environment and our communities.
Working alongside the next generation of leaders and professionals, I am filled with hope and optimism for a world where female leadership is normalized and we can shift our energy to working together on creating a better world.
