Built a custom leaf cutter bee house for my brother-in-law for his 81st birthday. My idea was that he would use it in his apple orchard, but he may have another place for it. 
Why leaf cutter bees? They are small bees. They are non-aggressive, and they are absolutely wonderful pollinators.

Refinished another floor last week. This floor is inch and a half oak. If I get the pictures in the right order you will see that there were some serious water stains on part of this floor. They were quite old and very dry. This kind of staining usually happens when the carpet is cleaned and it doesn’t dry out fast enough or it gets cleaned numerous times and stays wet. (These stains were not from animal damage.)
The first sanding took off the finish and left the stains. By the third sanding the stains were gone and I was able to finish the floors.  The floor was finished with three coats of oil based polyurethane in a semi gloss finish.
It is hard to beat the beauty of a floor like this!!

Recently completed two floor refinishing jobs.
The first was a living room and dining room of oak which was stained a dark color. You’ll recognize it in the pictures

Second floor was Douglas fir and it was just finished with straight oil based polyurethane which picked up the oranges and reds in the wood. You’ll recognize it, too, in the pictures.

My stepson Doug,  (The same person who made the minion and the king of thrones fire pits), is now making “dog barriers” for your AC UNIT. A friend of his who does HVAC work says dogs severely damage air conditioning units by peeing on them. Here is a picture of his most recent product. (Picture is in the next frame below.)

A very nice old pressed back chair. It was painted brown when it came to my shop. Took it apart took all the old paint off put it back together stained it and finished it

I love doing old chairs!!

When we moved to Philip we had a computer desk that we took apart and used the bottom piece underneath a section of countertop that fit along one wall of the room that turned into the office and used the upper piece for shelving. (The other end of the countertop is held up with a two drawer file cabinet.)
Recently we cut a hole in the wall and put in a window; that made the computer desk shelving look pretty shabby!
So we needed new shelves. 
After watching about 15 videos about floating shelves on YouTube, we decided hidden brackets was the way to go. So we bought 8 inch L-shaped brackets on Wayfair, and had Moses Building Center plane down two by tens to an inch and a quarter thick. Then we mortised notches on the underside of the boards so the lips on the brackets would fit up into the boards and not be visible from the front of the shelves.
We got the effect of floating shelves with a lot less hassle!

I recently scraped all the paint off of an old door and sanded it and refinished it and replaced one of the hollow core slab doors in our house.

Also, you’ll notice the page got whist. We will play court whist on New Year’s Eve 🎊🎉at the senior citizens center in Philip.
Then we play regular whist every Thursday night at the Senior Citizens Center in January and February. Come and join us !! Do not have to be a senior citizen!!!!😊
