“A reminder to get back up”

A few months ago, my niece and nephews came over to play in the backyard. It was overgrown with desert marigolds scattered throughout, and in the chaos of chasing each other, they unintentionally trampled a patch nestled under our tree. I remember feeling a little sad, like we might have lost them, but Christian reassured me they would bounce back. Sure enough, just a few days later, those same flowers were upright again, blooming like nothing had happened.

This piece is a reflection on life and my growth as an artist, an exploration of trying things that scare me, and a reminder that we can get back up.

Finally catching up on posting projects but I’m super excited to share this finished piece.

One of my favorite things about living in Phoenix is the 360 views of the mountains. I never realized how vital this was to me until I traveled to places with completely different horizon lines.

I love knowing that no matter where I am in the valley, the mountains, and their sense of remoteness, are never too far away.

Entitled “Sonoran Layers,” this mural captures the vast shapes of the city into a collaged composition representing parts of both Tempe and the surrounding area.

Recently completed mural in Sunnyslope! 📍 join us on Saturday Feb 21st from 11-1pm for the official unveiling and celebration of this community project!

Huge thank you to Village Center Neighborhood Collective and from the city of phoenix for making this happen, to for sponsoring the paint, to for donating your time with the prep, and all who volunteered their time paining. Huge community effort on all ends. 👏🏽👏🏽

Sunnyslope is where it’s at! Today we started a community mural and all the neighbors showed up to bring it to life. Looking forward to adding the finishing touches next week!
