I have written posts to say things out loud but never post. It has have therapeutic value.
Today while it may cause friends to unfollow or block me, I feel compelled to engage.
In my lifetime, I have never thought that three Independent Branches of a Democracy that ensure the Balance of Power would fall from a decision by a supreme court.
And this is happening in the July 4th Week when we celebrate our independence from a Monarchy!
Further, that they would remove the guardrails of a Self-proclaimed Omnipotent Authoritarian running for president of our Democracy is unconscionable.
Remind yourself what he did during and after his term as president. He appointed some of the worse people as advisors. A very few of those that he assigned attempted to reign him in but left or were fired. None of those who left, including vice president pence, supported tRump in his role as president of our democracy, nor are they supporting his bid for a second term. These people had personally witnessed his insane and unprecedented pursuit of personal and lasting control as president.
The supreme court should have held any president accountable and not above the law. Especially, tRump who has openly and clearly promised retribution, who will continue to assign key positions in our government to the highest bidder, and who will sell pardons to personally enrich himself.
Additionally, while the supreme court sees bribes as inappropriate, they view gratuities as wholly OK.
He will sell us all out, especially the majority of his supporters who are not at the top of their game from an economic and educated perspective.
Most of his supporters ignore history. They ignore tRump’s actions to remain in power, and ignore his false narratives and flat-out lies referencing successes during his first term in office.
People like Steve Bannon, and Stephen Miller, Roger Stone, Paul Manafort, and so many more including the January 6th Insurrectionists will find themselves pardoned. Some will likely be named as advisors, diplomats, and directors of departments.
tRump will even, without consequence, direct Seal Team 6 to eliminate adversaries. How will tRump weaponize his department of justice? Who will tRump go after? Who will tRump arrest, jail, or even eliminate? He certainly has clear examples displayed by those he admires such as Putin.
Will he arrest Liz Chaney and Mit Romney? Will tRump go after Chuck Schumer, Nancy Pelosi, and Hakeem Jeffries? Will he go after all those witnesses who testified in court hearings that cost him hundreds of millions of dollars.
tRump's supreme court has not only cut down Roe v. Wade, it cut down the Chevron case, empowered agencies that protect our environment, our food, drug testing and advisement, and so many other government agencies that provide guardrails to products and services like round up, fracking, extraction in publically protected lands, and so much more. Now, this same supreme court provided presidential immunity.
Most of us that recognize and appreciate that we have lived in a free country with an abundance of personal liberties, should do all we can to stand in the way of tRump's pursuit to become and sustain his role as president of our country and specifically, our Democracy.
A vote to place control of the House, Senate, and Presidency in the hands of non-maga individuals is all that can save us from total tyranny!
We are better off today than we were 4 years ago and we are on a path to be much better in the next four years.
In 2028, we will enter a time where a new list of Presidential candidates will be put forward and my hope is that NONE will be maga influenced.
Please vote to preserve our Demcracy in 2024 by supporting not only President Biden and Kamala Harris, bit also strengthening the democratic Senate majority and changing the House to a strong Democratic Majority as well so that we send a clear message to our partners around the world.
The United States of America is an exemplary bright light on a Hill that illuminates the best of our values and practices.
