Forty years ago, Karen McCarthy and Judy Nordburg started a small Phoenix interior architecture firm built around relationships, collaboration, and good work.

A lot has changed since 1986. The workplaces are different. The team has grown. Leadership evolved with Jennifer Wallace-Sasek and Lisa Bentley purchasing the company in 2016.

Every office has that person who knows where everything is, how everything works, and who to call when something goes sideways.

At McCarthy Nordburg, that person is Theresa Oliva.

For 25 years, Theresa has handled the work behind the work: project numbers, billing, bookkeeping, scheduling, HR, and the dozens of moving pieces that keep the studio running smoothly every day. She knows the firm's systems better than just about anyone, and the team relies on her constantly.

Also, if you've spent enough time around Theresa, you've probably heard her laughing from across the office.

As senior project managers, both play a role in nearly every project that moves through the firm. Brooke brings a big-picture perspective shaped by decades of experience and a strong instinct for client-focused problem solving.
