Is anyone else in the valley fighting a losing battle against the "Desert Patina" on their pavers?

I have homeowners constantly asking me if their new Belgard pavers are already fading. Two months in and they look like theyโ€™ve been there for ten years. Itโ€™s not the product; itโ€™s just the fine desert dust and sun working overtime to ruin your curb appeal.

However, cheap pavers, truly do fade much faster!

Do you guys prefer the "natural" worn-in look, or are you team "seal it and keep it looking brand new"? Letโ€™s hear it in the comments.

That obnoxious w**d taking over your yard right now literally blew across the ocean from Africa just to ruin your weekend.

Most people think throwing down w**d fabric means they never have to think about maintenance again. It's a myth. Fabric works short term, but seeds blow in through the air and grow right on top of it. If you aren't spraying pre-emergent every six months, you're going to lose your yard to a massive infestation.
Be honest: How often are you actually treating your yard for w**ds, or are you out there pulling them by hand every single Sunday morning? Let me know below.

Go ahead and cry about the $16,000 price tag in the comments. I'll wait.

People see a flawless turf yard and assume we just unrolled some fake grass and went to lunch.

They completely ignore the 15 tons of river rock hauled by hand, the concrete borders, and the haul of 20 tons it takes to stop a yard from sinking into a muddy swamp the first time it rains.

This Queen Creek yard went from a depressing dust bowl to a premium oasis. Quality labor isn't cheap, and cheap labor is a guaranteed nightmare.

Letโ€™s settle it in the comments: Is $16k a total steal for a bulletproof, zero-
maintenance transformation, or are you the guy who thinks he can do this himself with a single shovel and a bag of Home Depot gravel? Fight it out below.

Let's be completely honest: no one is sitting in their backyard when it's 115 degrees outside, in PHOENIX ARIZONA

People spend all this money on a custom landscape, but forget that for three months out of the year, the sun is actively trying to melt us.

If you don't have a good low-voltage lighting setup, your backyard is completely useless until the fall. We design spaces intentionally so you can actually have a "night life" in your own yard.

Let me know in the comments: Are you crazy enough to be out in the yard during the day right now, or are you strictly a night-time patio user from June to September?

I get told all the time that $6,000 for landscape lighting is a rip-off.

You know what's an actual rip-off? Spending a fortune on a custom patio and then going inside at sunset because you can't see your own hand in front of your face.

This system cost $6k. 20 uplights, 5 ledge lights, fully installed. It doubles the usable hours of the property. You aren't buying bulbs; you're buying time.

I want to hear from you guys: Is $6k worth it to actually see the yard you paid for, or are you out there grilling with a headlamp on?

Let's argue in the comments.

75,000 gallons. That is what it will take to bring this dead yard back to life.

People hold onto their real grass like it's a family heirloom, but the math doesn't lie. It takes 50,000 gallons of water a year just to keep a yard this size alive. Because this one is completely dead, we're looking at 75k gallons just to revive it. Imagine what that is going to do to the homeowner's water bill. At some point, you have to stop throwing money in the dirt.

Let's talk numbers: How much are you paying every month just to keep your grass on life support? Is it actually worth it, or are you finally ready to rip it out? Let me know below.

Why do people spend thousands on a backyard and forget to light it up? It makes no sense. ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ

The absolute most undervalued detail in landscape design is low-voltage lighting. Just 6 lights and a small transformer took this yard from looking like a dark dirt pit to a premium outdoor space. Itโ€™s cost-effective and makes the whole project pop at night.

Let's settle this: Is landscape lighting a non-negotiable must-have, or an overpriced extra?

Let me know below. ๐Ÿ‘‡

I know the view is great (me + the custom pavers), but let's talk about the plants for a second.

We pack our yards with a massive variety of forever-green plantsโ€”Hopseeds, Boxwoods, Rosemary, Fire Bells. Mixing up your plant selection completely elevates the whole look of the property. Could be the pavers making the yard look this good, could be my stunning modeling skills, but the plants definitely help.

Be honest: What makes a backyard better? A massive custom paver patio, or a lush, green landscape with tons of plants? Drop your vote in the comments. ๐Ÿ‘‡

Convenience is the absolute killer of good craftsmanship.

As I'm calling out, one small detail ignored for the sake of "convenience" will completely ruin your pavers. Guys get lazy, skip a crucial step to save themselves a quick 30 minutes, and by next season your brand-new patio looks like a rollercoaster.

Let's settle this in the comments: Are homeowners pushing for cheap, unrealistic prices, or are contractors just getting lazy these days? What is the most obvious shortcut a contractor (or a DIYer...) has tried to pull on your property? Drop your horror stories below! ๐Ÿ‘‡
