Great work starts with great people! 👏

This week, we’re giving a shoutout to Victor, one of the newer faces on the Bates Landscaping team!

While Victor may be new to the crew, he’s already bringing a great attitude and enthusiasm for the industry. He enjoys getting out there and cutting grass, but what he really loves is learning about all the different aspects of landscaping and everything the industry has to offer.

We’re excited to have him on board and look forward to seeing him continue to grow and take on new challenges along the way.

Our team is what makes everything we do possible, and we’re grateful for the people who help bring our projects to life.

Thanks for being part of the team, Victor! 🌿

Good drainage work starts with understanding how the system was originally engineered to perform.

On this project, an existing stormwater swale had accumulated years of silt, mud, debris, fallen trees, and overgrown vegetation, significantly reducing its capacity and contributing to overflow during heavy rain events.

Our work focuses on restoring the system in accordance with the original engineered design—clearing and excavating the swale back to its intended dimensions, evaluating and reusing existing riprap where possible, and addressing the existing gabion basket based on its condition once exposed.

The project also includes improvements designed to support long-term stormwater performance, including extending the riprap-lined swale and adding a riprap check dam to help slow incoming water and capture sediment before it reaches the swale.

This is the kind of work where landscape construction and engineering have to work together.

Engineers looking for a landscape contractor capable of executing stormwater, drainage, and site improvement plans in the field can learn more about Bates Landscaping at BatesLandscaping.co or call (484) 887-8678.

Before there’s a finished project to admire, there’s someone making sure the heights are right. 📐

That yellow tool is a Spectra Precision LL300N rotary laser level. It creates a level reference around the job site, helping us check elevations as work takes shape.

It’s a small glimpse of something we take seriously: the details behind a job well done.

We bring that same attention to our relationships with engineers. Their technical expertise and our hands-on experience work together through careful measurements, open communication, and a shared commitment to the client.

Some of the most valuable work is work the client will never see—but will benefit from every day.

What’s an “invisible detail” in your profession that makes all the difference?
