🌿🍅 Has Anyone Heard of Foodscaping? 🍓🌻
You know what's funny?
People spend thousands of dollars planting bushes they can't eat, flowers they can't eat, and grass they spend every weekend mowing... then complain about grocery prices. 😂
Meanwhile, some of us are over here hiding tomatoes in flower beds, tucking blueberries into landscaping, planting rosemary where shrubs used to be, and turning the front yard into a secret buffet.
That's called foodscaping.
It's where beauty and practicality finally get introduced to each other.
Why plant a decorative tree when you can plant an apple tree?
Why grow a shrub when you can grow blueberries?
Why fill a flower bed with plants that just sit there looking pretty when you can mix in herbs, edible flowers, perennial vegetables, and fruit-producing plants that look just as good?
🌿 Beautiful? Absolutely.
🌿 Productive? You bet.
🌿 Saves money? Every year.
🌿 Makes pollinators happy? Yep.
🌿 Hidden emergency food source if life gets weird? Also yes.
Let's be honest... if things ever go sideways, I'd rather have a yard full of food than a yard full of expensive landscaping that contributes absolutely nothing except giving the HOA something to admire. 🤷♀️
The best part is most people won't even realize they're looking at food.
That gorgeous border?
Blueberries.
That attractive ground cover?
Strawberries.
That ornamental grass-looking plant?
Lemongrass.
That beautiful flowering perennial?
Could be daylilies, bee balm, or countless edible flowers.
It's basically gardening with a secret identity. 🦸♀️🥕🌿
And unlike traditional vegetable gardens that scream, "LOOK AT MY FOOD!", foodscaping quietly blends in while producing harvests year after year.
Plus, if you've ever tried explaining to your spouse why you need another garden bed, calling it "landscaping" tends to go over much better. 😂
So tell me...
🌱 Do you foodscape already?
🌱 If you could replace one landscaping plant with something edible, what would it be?
And be honest... how many of you are secretly turning your yard into a grocery store one plant at a time? 😂👇🌿🍓🍅🌻🌳
